Sean Spitler, 2004 AA/GS graduate, has been hired by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security-Transportation Security Administration and is currently pursuing a BS/CJA degree.

Wayne Blessinger, 2002 BSB/M graduate, has been accepted to law school in Riverside, Calif.

Nickcole Byrd, 2003 BSB/ E-Business graduate, has recently released a book of poetry and is co-founder of Hebrew Women Ministries.

Coree Cameron, 2003 BSB/ACC graduate, has launched the firm of Cameron, Coffey & Kaye Pro- fessional Corporation, doing tax accounting and financial services.

Michael Castaneda, 2004 BSB/ CJ graduate, has been promoted to Chief of Security at Fort Bliss, Texas.

Melissa Dalton, 2004 BSB/EB graduate, has recently been promoted to Senior Human Resources Generalist at Pearson School Technologies in Mesa, Ariz. She also is working toward her MBA/ HR degree.

Jonathan Floyd, 2002 BSB/M graduate, has accepted a position as Director of New Media Marketing & Sales in the entertainment and sports division, with Rovion LLC. Jonathan also hosts a weekly Southern College Football Preview syndicated to media sites across the Internet.

Angela Lenormand, 2003 BSB/M graduate, is serving as Program Director for Preferred Family Healthcare, a substance abuse program located throughout the state of Missouri.

Beverley Lidyoff, 2004 BSB/M graduate, has been promoted to Manager at Federal Express in the field operations of Supply Chain Logistics in Los Angeles, Calif.

Susan Lund, 2000 BSB/A graduate, has recently accepted the position of Employee Benefits Services Analyst at Marsh USA.

Scott Milliet, 2003 BSB/M graduate, has been accepted to Officer Candidates School in Pensacola, Fla., and will be commissioned as a Supply Corps Officer.

David Mincer, 2003 BSB/A graduate, has accepted the position of Regional Sales Manager with General Monitors in Lake Forest, Calif. He will be responsible for the Southeastern United States.

Heather Molinari, 2004 BSB/M graduate, has been promoted to Assistant Coordinator with the Parks and Recreation Department for the City of Scottsdale, Ariz.

Anna Moore, 2004 BSB/M graduate, is working as a Staff Manager at BellSouth and is currently working on her master’s degree. She wants to thank University of Phoenix for helping her achieve her goal.

Robert Nygren, 2001 BSB/M graduate, has recently accepted the position of Director of Finance for NPC International.

Rene Reed, 2004 BSB/M graduate, has been promoted to Financial Analyst at the Mutual Insurance Company of Arizona.

Michael Robertson, 2003 BSB/M graduate, is currently a Customer Service Engineer II and has recently joined the Manager Mentoring program leading to Customer Service Manager.

Dennis Schamp, 2000/2004 BSB/M, Elementary Teaching Credential, has received a full- time contract with the San Diego Unified School District and is posted to Children’s Hospital Educational Center.

Jeffrey Schilling, 2002 BSB graduate, Senior Multimedia Producer at Oregon Health and Science University, has received a Silver Reel award from the highly acclaimed MCA-I Media Festival.

Mark D. Serate, 2003 BSB/M graduate, has launched his new business, Marketing Madness, a creative marketing company specializing in events, promotions and design work.

Timothy W. Smith, 1996 BAM graduate, was recently named Property Underwriting Manager for American Agriculture Insurance Company in Schaumberg, Ill.

Sheryl Spencer, 2003 BSB/M graduate, has recently created a company called Pass Your Class and also works as an Event Manager for Multiple Streams of Income in Provo, Utah.

Marquise V. Thompson, 2003 BSB/MKT graduate, has recently accepted a position as Servicing Manager for New Loan Set Up and Escrow with HomeBanc Mortgage Corporation.

Timothy G. Uding, 2004 BSB/A graduate, was promoted to the rank of Senior Master Sergeant in the U.S. Air Force. Timothy is a Standardization and Evaluations Superintendent assigned to the 377th Security Forces Squadron, Kirtland Air Force Base, Albuquerque, N.M.

Wendy Underhill, 2001 BSB/A graduate, has accepted a position as Finance Analyst for Wireless Communications and Computing Group at Intel Corporation in Folsom, Calif.

Chris Vowels, 2004 BSB/ACC graduate, has recently joined Holland CPAs located in Bowling Green, Ind., as a staff accountant.

David P. Whittleton, 2003 BSB/M graduate, was recently promoted to Senior Staff Consultant-Business Operations with Verizon Information Technologies in Tampa, Fla.

Lonnie Marksberry, 2002 BSBIS graduate, has taken a position as a Systems Engineer at Northrop Grumman Electronics Systems in Ocean Springs, Miss.

Robert Pacheco, 2000 BSBIS graduate, has recently been promoted to Geographic Information Systems Technician for the City of Phoenix Water Services Department, Project Management Section. He will spearhead a new citywide project to inventory the city’s water distribution and collections system infrastructure using GPS technology.

Nicholas V. Pavicic, 2004 BSBIS graduate, has accepted a position as Maintenance Supervisor at General Motors Powertrain in Ypsilanti, Mich.

Joseph “Scott” Shelton, 2000 BSBIS graduate, has been promoted to Assistant Vice President and Change Manager for Bank of America’s Credit Card Customer Service and Support Division.

Carolyn L. Wolf, 2002 BSBIS graduate, has been selected as the Information Processing Section Supervisor in charge of Network Administration and User Support for the Central Services Division of the Montana State Department of Natural Resources and Conservation Bureau.

Ray M. Caparros, 2002 BSHS graduate, has accepted a position as President/CEO of RMC Homes Inc. in Northern California.

Rachel Doyon, 2003 BSIT/Web Management graduate, has been promoted to Global eBusiness Associate Business Analyst, at Franklin Templeton Investments.

Kelly Graham, 2003 BSIT graduate, has accepted a position at American Systems Corporation as a Systems Analyst and is currently pursuing her MBA.

Edward Parker, 2003 BSIT graduate, has been promoted to IS Product Specialist, Global Production Management Team of CHEP America’s in central Florida. He also recently received his Real Estate license.

Cynthia Reynolds, 2003 BSIT/NTC graduate, has recently accepted a position as a Senior Unix Administrator/Analyst at SC Johnson & Sons, Inc. in Racine, Wis.

Mark Russell, 2004 BSIT graduate, has accepted the position of Operations Manager at Idaho Student Information Management System, State of Idaho, Department of Education.

Jeff Stern, 2003 BSIT graduate, was recently promoted to Manager of Dayton Information Technology for the Behr Dayton facility and Manager of SAP Competency Center for support of North American Operations at Behr America.

Karen B. Shipman, 2004 BSN graduate, has accepted a position as Director of Marketing for Progressive Nursing Staffers in Richmond, Va.

Dr. Laura A. Pogue, 2002 DM graduate and Chief Executive Officer at Strategic Marketing and Financial Resources, Inc., has earned her Private Pilot license from the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration.

Dr. Sharla M. Walker-Allison, 2004 DM graduate, has accepted a position as Director of Human Resources at the University of California-Lawrence Hall of Science in Berkeley, Calif.

Frank Byers, 2004 MAED/TED-S graduate, has accepted a teaching position at Highland Junior High School in Gilbert, Ariz.

Ronald Foreman, 2003 MAED/ E-learning graduate, is currently teaching social science at the college level and has recently published a book of poetry.

Robert Nutting, 2004 MAED/AEDL graduate, has been selected to deliver online courses at the university level, facilitating vari- ous management, business, and education classes.

Danielle Richards, 2004 MAED/TED-S graduate has accepted a position as Drama Teacher at Middlesex Public Schools in Middlesex, N.J.

Barbara Rossi, 2003 MAED/ Curriculum and Technology graduate, has accepted a position as Instructor for the American Art Institute Online.

Gregory Zotos, 2003 MAED/ TED-E graduate, is a teacher at the college level and has recently published two Greek cookbooks.

Eileen Belton, 2003 MAOM graduate, has accepted a position at Liberty Mutual Insurance Group as a Market Loss Prevention Consultant for Occupational Safety and Health in Orange, Calif.

Dinah Browne, 2004 MAOM graduate, has accepted a position as Literacy Coach at the public school level in Christiansted, Va.

Kevin Burns, 2004 MAOM graduate, was promoted to Executive Director of Shanti, a nonprofit organization providing support services to people with HIV/ AIDS, breast cancer and other life-threatening illnesses.

Kim Christensen, 2003 MAOM graduate, has accepted a Deputy Director position with the Department of Administrative Services for the State of Utah. Kim will manage the budget and oversee human resources for DAS.

Anthony J. Di Cicco, 2000 MAOM graduate, has been appointed to the position of Director of Education at the college level.

Brent A. Duncan, 1999 MAOM graduate, has accepted the position of Vice President of Marketing at Technology Credit Union in San Jose, Calif.

Emilia Mayorga, 2003 MAOM graduate, has accepted a position as Manager of Volunteer and Youth Services for the San Gabriel Valley Chapter of the American Red Cross in Pasadena.

Brandon Morgan, 2002 MAOM graduate, has accepted a position of Director of Sales and Customer Service-National Region with Roper Industries.

Christine Richie-Myers, 2004 MAOM graduate, first woman to become an Oakland Firefighter, has retired from the department and is opening a wellness center that treats the mind, body and spirit.

Bill Robbins, 2002 MAOM graduate, is an award-winning advertising photographer and commercial film director and is serving on the faculty of Brooks Institute of Photography.

Mark Ryan, 2004 MAOM graduate, has been promoted to the position of Area Manager at Verizon Communications.

Ken Saltgaver, 2003 MAOM graduate, has been promoted to Director of Pharmacy at San Antonio Community Hospital in Upland, Calif.

Christopher A. Smith, 2003 MAOM graduate, recently attended the Joint Civilian Orientation Conference sponsored by the Office of the Secretary of Defense. Chris was one of only 50 civilians from throughout the United States selected to participate in this program.

Teri (Frates) Treiger, 2002 MAOM graduate, has joined McKesson Corporation as a Clinical Information Specialist for the InterQual product line. Teri will soon be published in Legal Nurse Consulting: Principles and Practice and is the newly installed President of the Case Management Society of New England.

Valentia Alleyne, 2004 MBA/MKT graduate, was promoted to Channel Support Manager in the Internal Marketing Communications group at Nextel Communications, Inc. in Reston, Va.

Fernando Ascencio, 1994 MBA graduate, was recently promoted to the position of President of Que- pasa Corporation in Phoenix, Ariz.

Vicki Attaway, 2002 MBA graduate, has been named Assistant Dean of Distance Education and Noncredit Programs at Palo Verde College. Vicki will oversee programs and classes in Blythe and Needles, Calif.

Kevin Blaxton, 2003 MBA/ACC graduate, has accepted a position as Senior Financial Analyst at the Walt Disney World Company in Orlando, Fla.

John W. Cephas, 2000 MBA graduate, has recently accepted a position as Quality Assurance Manager with Beretta USA Corp in Accokeek, Md.

David E. Conner, 2003 MBA graduate, was named Assistant Vice President of Claims-Great Lakes Region for United Fire Group in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Laurie Diener, 1999 MBA/TM graduate, has recently launched LLDien Consulting Inc., which specializes in developing business plans for small companies and nonprofit agencies. In addition, Laurie runs a produce delivery business called Laurie-Beth’s Farm Fresh in Ray Township, Mich.

Victoria L. DiPasquale, 2004 MBA graduate, has been appointed Agency Account Manager-North and Central Florida for LandAmerica Financial Group, Inc.

Timothy Frosell, 1999 MBA/GM graduate, has been promoted to Plant Manager of the Goodyear/Dunlop North American Tire Plant in Buffalo, N.Y.

Glenn Magpile Gomez, 2002 MBA graduate, has accepted the position of Bank Vice President (Inland Valley Region) with Bank of the West in Pasadena, Calif.

Elizabeth Halaki, 1997 MBA graduate, has been named to the position of Vice President of Marketing for Oce Business Services, Inc. Elizabeth will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the company’s marketing.

Tania Hermosillo, 2002 MBA/GM graduate, has accepted a position as Life Agent with New York Life Insurance.

Don Holbrook, 2004 MBA graduate, has been hired as President of The Economic Development Corporation of Wayne County, Ind.

Shelly Huston, 2003 MBA/ HCM graduate, has been hired as Director of Marketing at Manor Healthcare Center, Las Vegas, Nev., and is a candidate for Admin-istrator in Training.

Ramona N. Johnson, 2004 MBA graduate, has been appointed to the Board of Education of Baltimore County by the Governor of Maryland. Ramona also serves as Deputy Director of the Fannie Mae Baltimore Partnership Office.

Steve Landers, 2003 MBA/TM graduate, has been hired as Executive Vice President of Elgin B. Robertson, Inc. of Dallas, Texas.

Scott Lindley, 2004 MBA/TM graduate, has accepted the position of Vice President of Information Systems & Technology at Travis Credit Union in Vacaville, Calif.

J. Craig McAllister, 2003 MBA graduate, was recently promoted to the position of Division Logistics Manager for the South Division of Nestle Waters North America.

David McLean, 2002 MBA/TM graduate, has accepted a position with Microsoft Corporation as the International Lead Product Manager charged with rolling out recruiting systems on a global basis.

Carnell M. Murrell, 2003 MBA graduate, was accepted into Target Corporation’s Executive Management Program in Phoenix, Ariz.

Shannon Nebeker, 2004 MBA graduate, has launched a financial services business.

Dora Oaxaca, 2001 MBA/GM graduate, is currently the Chief of Staff for State Rep. Chente Quintanilla in El Paso, Texas.

Mayank Patel, 2003 MBA/TM graduate, recently launched his own business, Patel Systems Support, LLC. based in East Hartford, Conn. He also holds a MSCIS degree he received in 2000.

Theodore Smith, 2003 MBA graduate, has taken a position as an Electrical Engineer with Montana-Dakota Utilities Company in Bismarck, N.D.

Lloyd Sprenkle, 2003 MBA/TM graduate, has accepted a promotion to the position of Project Manager for new product development at Wyeth.

Tami Reeves, 2004 MBA graduate, was promoted to Material Manager at Pall Corporation’s Cortland New York facility.

Kenneth Winiecki, 2002 MBA graduate, was hired by E. Jordan Brookes Co. Int. in Santa Fe Springs, Calif., as the Quality System Manager. Ken will initiate ISO 9001-2000 and supervise the Quality System. Ken also holds a BSB/AM degree received in 1996.

Vernell Tate, 2004 MSCIS graduate, was promoted to Program Chair for the School of Electronics Technology at ITT Technical Institute in St. Rose, La.

Katy Davis, 2003 MSCIS graduate, has been promoted to Medicare Secondary Payer Supervisor and wishes to thank University of Phoenix for the training she received.

John J. Cannon, 2003 MSCIS graduate, is providing advanced training as a Microsoft Certified Trainer and enhancing his Internet consulting services with his company, Bitera Corporation.

Marilynn Hardy, 2004 MSN graduate, has been promoted to Community Health Services Manager for the Department of Community Health at the Riverside Correctional Facility.

Brooks by the Book

Helping others. It’s a tenet LaVonne Brooks lives by.

Brooks, a 1998 MAOM graduate of University of Phoenix’s New Mexico campus, is chief executive officer at High Sierra Industries (hsireno.com). The Reno-based business provides work, training and housing for people in Northern Nevada who have developmental, physical and mental challenges.

Before taking the helm of HSI, Brooks owned a training and development consulting practice. But her résumé doesn’t stop there. In addition to her 15 years of experience in business consulting, Brooks is a member of the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, Truckee Meadows Tomorrow, City Care and the Secretary of State’s task force to implement the Help America Vote Act. She also is the first female of Hispanic descent to be appointed to the Reno Planning Commission.

Brooks, 47, and her husband, fellow University of Phoenix grad (1998) Ron Brooks, have lived in Reno for 10 years.
